More pictures of the library construction are available at jacksonpubliclibrary.org. There is quite an extensive photo documentation at this site.
The current library was built in 1901 and has served the town well for over a century. However, there are numerous problems with the current library including lack of space, lack of shelving, no running water or facilities, and a failure to meet many of the current life safety codes.
Currently, the Library Trustees and the Jackson Historical Society will re-erect the Trickey Barn as a new library. Library and Historical Society Trustees visited the Gilmanton Library which was constructed using an old barn frame roughly the same size as the Trickey Barn. Site, floor plans and construction estimates have been developed.
Fund raising continues. To date, about $1 million of the estimated $1.2 million cost has been raised or pledged in part thanks to an anonymous donation of $200,000.
